Simon Broughton is a freelance journalist and film maker based in London. He is founding editor of Songlines, the world music magazine which launched 25 years ago. As well as Songlines he writes for BBC Music Magazine, the Financial Times and other publications.
He worked for many years for BBC radio and television and his documentaries include films in Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Turkey and Morocco. He’s long been writing about and commenting on Hungarian music. His 2020 documentary Fly Bird, Fly was for Hungarian TV on the Dance House Movement and folk revival in Hungary.
